Autumn 1
Scream Machine
Hold on tight and get ready to roll! We are going to visit to a theme park where we will go on or watch rides that swing, spin, roll and loop. Investigate and take photos of the rides’ mechanisms? How do the different rides work and what forces are at play? Explain how the rides affect our bodies, describing the impact of different forces. Make sure to soak up the atmosphere, including the whiff of hot dogs and the screams of delight. This half term is going to be a fun packed rollercoaster of a ride!
Autumn 2
Pharaohs
Let’s travel back 5,000 years to the dusty realms of ancient Egypt. Cruise along the Nile, entering a world of mysteries and curses, mummies and kings. Find out about life on the river’s fertile banks, discovering Egypt and its fascinating culture. Unravel secrets of ancient tombs, using historical source sand age old artefacts. Find out about powerful pharaohs and grandiose gods. Open the doorway to ancient Egypt – who knows what treasures you will find?
Spring 1
Stargazers
Journey through space, the final frontier… Navigate beyond the Sun: the magnificent, blazing star at the centre of our Solar System! Investigate the eight planets and take a look at the Moon, a celestial body that orbits the Earth. Then it’s three, two, one…BLAST OFF! Build a rocket for an important test mission. Exploring space is probably the greatest adventure that humankind has ever undertaken. Are we alone or are there other life forms out there?
Spring 2
Beast Creator
A bug, a creepy-crawly, a beast! He’ll tickle your skin then go in for the sting! Arachnids, invertebrates, molluscs and myriapods hiding in your nooks and beneath darkened rocks… Come search for these mini-beasts and let’s sort them out! How many legs? How many wings? Who does it eat and who eats it? Can you classify it? Can you draw it or make it?
Summer 1
Off With Her Head!
What sort of man would order the beheading of his wife? Was she really that bad? Travel back in time to the 1500s and meet the terrifying Tudors, a domineering dynasty that changed our history. Shakespeare was the author at the time, but…Can you read and understand his work? Can you write in his style?
Summer 2
Time Traveller
Tick, tock, tick, tock… the hands on the clock never stop. From the moment we are born, from toddler to teen, middle age to elderly, time stops for no person. Take a good look at yourself… How has your face changed since you were a baby and how will it change as you grow older? What would happen in the clock struck 13? Imagine where in time you could travel to. Where would you go and what would you like to see? Will you head back to your past or into the future?
